CASERIO DE DUEÑAS BARREL FERMENTED NAMED "BEST WINE FROM RUEDA" BY THE ABC GUIDE WITH 94 POINTS
5 de December de 2016
“"Since its launch, the most premium range of Rueda wines from Bodegas Viña Mayor: Caserío de Dueñas Verdejo Superior and Caserío de Dueñas Barrel Fermented has had a continued run of success."”
With more than 30 years of experience making white and red wines with a marked personality, Viña Mayor presented its latest creations from the D.O. Rueda in April, the handiwork of Technical Director Almudena Alberca; produced in the historic Finca Caserío de Dueñas, located in the town of Villaverde de Medina.
Since then, the most premium range of Rueda wines from Bodegas Viña Mayor: Caserío de Dueñas Verdejo Superior and Caserío de Dueñas Barrel Fermented has had a continued run of success. Most recently, the 94 points given to Caserío de Dueñas Barrel Fermented by The ABC WINE GUIDE 2017, positioned it as the Best Wine in Rueda in the tenth edition of the prestigious guide headed up by the critic Juan Fernández –Cuesta.
Caserío de Dueñas Barrel Fermented is an old-vine verdejo from selected vines in the iconic areas of Rueda with a variety of soils. Some pebbly soils rich in calcium and magnesium, that give a mineral character and weight in the mouth, and others, at a higher altitude on more slatey soils with a verdejo clone that gives elegant and distinctively complex aromas to the wine.
In terms of appearance, the wine is a bright yellow colour with golden highlights. It shows very elegant aromas with mineral notes. Citrus, grapefruit, combined with hints of cream and bread. Flavour: Intense, powerful, expressive with great balance between fruit, acidity and oak. Great varietal expression. Rounded, full of flavour, with a long finish.
The Ruedas produced in Caserío de Dueñas reflect not only tradition, but are also a strong expression of modern-day knowledge aimed at producing wines that are fresh, complex and balanced in the mouth. The expression of our wines is marked by the expert hands of our winemaker. Thanks to her experience we have been able to fully benefit from the ideal conditions for grape growing that our estate offers. The great diversity of microclimates and the large difference in temperature between night and day favours the optimal maturation of the grapes.
